Jack, is there a way I can incorporate users' old contributions into the point system? Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 12:59, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

I ran a script (via Special:UpdateEditCounts) to do that:
Updating LuvPuppy with 9 edits

Updating Phinbart with 1688 edits
Updated stats for 2 users
Happy editing! --Jack Phoenix 13:01, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 13:02, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm having a problem with uploading my avatar. Can you help me? Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 13:05, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Also, how do I edit the User levels? Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 13:05, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
I tested avatar uploading and I can confirm the bug; it's caused by the fact that we haven't upgraded our version of SocialProfile yet (the version we're using is too old to work 100% correctly with MediaWiki 1.16). I've mentioned this in bug #169; feel free to poke our tech guys about this.
As for user levels, you can't edit them directly, but I can. Just tell me the level names and required amount of points/level and I'll edit them for you. --Jack Phoenix 13:21, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Hi, Solar Dragon's edits haven't been incorporated into the points system. Can do you it for me please? Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 19:07, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

  • Signing up - 1,000
  • Editing a page in the main namespace - 50
  • Adding your first avatar - 100

I've decided to keep it simple. Thanks. Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 15:44, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

I've applied the requested changes. Currently it's not possible to give out points for uploading an image or creating an article, but it should be — so thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into coding that feature. :-) --Jack Phoenix 15:46, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Hi, can you change the level "Headphone Joe" to 1,500 please? Thanks. Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 18:44, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Russian Wiki[edit source]

Hi, I just want to know why there is a Russian Fish Hooks Wiki? And why I can't access it? Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! (talk) 16:28, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

There's a Russian Fish Hooks Wiki because Username created it. :-) But what do you mean that you can't access it? Works for me... --Jack Phoenix (talk) 17:06, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
On the front page it says "У вас нет разрешения на «чтение этой страницы» по следующей причине:

Запрошенное действие могут выполнять только участники из групп «Стюарды, Персонал, Invited users»." Which translates to: "You do not have permission to "read this page" for the following reason: You can view and only one of the groups' Stewards , Staff , Invited users »." Also, who's Username? Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! (talk) 17:43, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Ah, I didn't think of that...it seems somewhat silly, you should ask Username about that (Username's a Russian-speaking user who founded the Russian ShoutWiki Hub, among others). --Jack Phoenix (talk) 17:51, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Skin[edit source]

How do I change the skin of Fish Hooks Wiki from Monobook to Monaco? Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! (talk) 10:00, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Also, can you restore Special:MultipleUpload? Thanks, Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! (talk) 10:38, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Just like any other configuration variable — you don't (yet), staff do. I've changed the default skin to Monaco and enabled MultiUpload. Please note that MultiUpload is buggy and that's precisely the reason why it isn't globally enabled, but the upload feature should nevertheless work. We're hoping we can fix it as soon as possible. --Jack Phoenix (talk) 19:44, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Licensing[edit source]

I would like to add "Fair use" (with {{Fair use}}) to the licensing section on the upload form. Could you possibly tell me how, or can staff only do this? Thanks, {{SUBST:User:Phinbart/sig}} (talk) 12:04, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Edit MediaWiki:Licenses. The format is:
* Header name
** templatename|Description shown to the user
* Non-free licenses
** fairuse|Fair use
** copyrighted|Copyrighted, but used with permission
You can see a good example of the license selector on the Commandos Wiki. --Jack Phoenix (talk) 12:08, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, {{User:Phinbart/sig}} (talk) 12:24, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

& problem[edit source]

Why does & turn up on titles with an ampersand in them? Phinbart (talk) 13:44, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Good catch, that's definitely a bug! I'll see what I can do to fix that... --Jack Phoenix (talk) 17:18, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

"Show" problem[edit source]

Hi, for some reason the "show" action on Template:MultiMessagebox and Template:Episodes do not work. Is this a bug I should input on BugZilla, or not? Phinbart (talk) 18:43, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

It's not a software bug, but rather a local issue — a case of missing functionality. See the MediaWiki.org manual page on collapsible elements. Though I have to say that I'd personally use the "pre-1.18" approach over the jQuery plugin, because the latter just doesn't seem to be working. Let me know if you need any help with this. --Jack Phoenix (talk) 18:53, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks to the input of code in Common.js and Common.css, templates that are supposed to collapse are collapsing. Just one problem, though. In Template:Episodes, there should be a "[show]" button on every other bar, but there isn't. I'm sure there should be, and I've tried to fix it. Is there some more code I need to add to the Common.js and Common.css pages? Phinbart (talk) 19:34, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Interwiki table[edit source]

Could you add "simpsons" to this wiki's interwiki table? The address would be http://simpsonswiki.net/wiki/$1. Thanks. Phinbart (talk) 14:47, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Interwiki links are global, i.e. shared between all wikis (see our help page about interwiki links for more info), whereas interlanguage links are specific to a certain wiki; more info about that can be found on our help page about interlanguage links.
After consulting my fellow staffers, we settled on the prefix "wikisimpsons" as we felt the original prefix was a bit too generic. Now you can use the wikisimpsons prefix to make interwiki links to Wikisimpsons on all ShoutWiki wikis! :-) --Jack Phoenix (talk) 22:18, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
